Noe nytt: En 2-bindsserie om åpninger med 1.d4 d5 uten 2.c4. Denne første boka handler om andre trekk enn 2.Sf3, og aller mest 2.Sc3 Sf6 og nå Veresov-åpning 3.Lg5 eller Blackmar-Diemer-gambit 3.e4. Også 2.Lg5, 2.Lf4 og 2.e3 får plass.

Dette er i format og stil en klassisk åpningsbok som i utgangspunktet ikke tar sterkt stilling verken for de hvite eller svarte brikkene. Boka er folkelig skrevet og kan appellere særlig til spillere i ratingnivåene fra cirka 1000 til 2100. De to forfatterne er selvfølgelig to høyst kyndige karer fra den sovjetiske og russiske sjakkskolen.
