Questions of Modern Chess Theory - A Soviet Classic

"The lost masterpiece of Soviet chess literature" utkommer her for første gang på engelsk. Den ble først utgitt i 1956 av den doble ukrainske mesteren Lipnitsky, en veldig sterk spiller og sjakkforfatter som dessverre døde allerede i 1959. Boka hadde stor betydning i sovjetisk sjakk og blir også sitert av Bobby Fischer som hadde lært seg russisk for å studere sjakk bedre. Det er en bok som dekker åpningsspill og midtspilltenkning og blir kalt bindeleddet mellom Nimzowitsch og dagens moderne sjakk.
Denne nye utgaven er omsorgsfullt oppdatert og supplert med noen av Lipnitskys partier, av Ilya Odessky.

Efim Lazarev, ukrainsk venn av Lipnitsy fra 50-tallet, har skrevet en interessant introduksjon, og Anatolij Karpov har skrevet forordet. Karpov skriver blant annet:

The book was becoming a legend. What was so special about it? In a striking indeed fascinating way, it is the reverse of banal. Have a browse and read through any two pages at random, and you will see this for yourself. ... And there are some books which stiumulate thought. Such a book is the one before you.
