En uforglemmelig, spenstig, intellektuell og estetisk ekspedisjon inn i sjakkspillets attraktive verden... Kort sagt den engelske utgaven av fenomenale "Expeditionen in die Schachwelt" fra 2006.

Matematikkprofessor Christian Hesse har begått en av de mer imponerende sjakkbøkene i nyere tid, og her kommer den til glede også for ikke-tyskkyndige lesere. Utfra boka kan vi forstå at denne matematikeren har sjakk og litteratur som sine to store hobbyer.

Kramniks forord til den tyske utgaven har nå blitt etterord, og så har Anand skrevet et nytt forord der han bl.a. skriver:
